Ankor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world. Located near Siem Reap, Cambodia, Ankor Wat is a simple Tuk Tuk drive away from the city. Built in the 12th century, it wasn’t again uncovered until the 1860s. It is now a UNESCO Heritage Site and one of the most touristed locations in the world!
To explore the ruins, you can choose to hire a Tuk Tuk driver to drive you around for the day or you can rent a bike and explore the temples yourself, Indian Jones style.
There are both 1 day passes and 3 day passes available. The temples are scattered over such a vast area that you definitely wouldn’t get bored with a 3 day pass. I personally did it all in one day due to time constraints, but I think I’d recommend purchasing the 3 day pass and renting a bike. This would allow you to cruise around the temples at a relaxed pace and you could easily find certain areas with few to no tourists.
