Heidelberg, Germany

Located about an hour south of Frankfurt and in the south-west of Germany, Heidelberg is a fairly popular tourist destination. The Neckar river runs through the city and there is a massive park connected to the river.

Heidelberg has a beautiful old town culminating in the popular Heidelberg castle. Tell anyone you are visiting Heidelberg and the castle is the first thing that’s talked about.

Heidelberg is the oldest University town in Germany and has a population of 150,000. It is a relatively small city but it is worth spending at least 3 days here in my opinion. Itย is nice to lay out near the river, go swimming and just to simply relax. The temperatures exceeded 35ยฐ for my 3 daysย in the city, so the Neckar river was the only reprieve from constant sweating!
